OPSG Facilitates National Inter-Racial and Religious Confidence Circle (IRCC) Workshop 2008
Different races, many beliefs, one nation – this is the new slogan for the Inter-Racial and Religious Confidence Circle (IRCC). With that in mind, 200 members from the IRCC participated in a workshop organised by Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS). OnePeople.sg worked closely with MCYS in facilitating the workshop discussion. The workshop was facilitated by 24 of our volunteer facilitators, most of whom were OnePeople.sg's EIE Facilitators. It was a stimulating discussion where IRCC members were encouraged to share their challenges, experiences and suggest new ideas for to strengthen community bonding. Read more about it here.
 
   
 
Trust Building Workshop

What would be the course of action to take to build trust within the community in the event of inter-ethnic or inter-religious conflict? IRCC leaders participated in the pilot run, where they engaged in discussions and shared approaches to build trust and bonding in the community. Explore and engage in discussions about approaches to restore confidence and promote inter-ethnic bonding and build trust at the community level

Mediation Course for Community Leaders

Understand key concepts of Mediation and approaches to dealing with inter-ethnic conflicts in our Mediation Course for Community Leaders. Conducted by Mr Viswa Sadasivan, CEO Strategic Moves, this interactive course will explore and discuss the barriers to community engagement, issues that lead to inter-ethnic conflicts and how these can be resolved amicably.

Highlights 2007

Launch of OnePeople.sg

OnePeople.sg was launched by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on 27 May 2007 at the Singapore River Promenade next to The Arts House. The re-branding of OnePeople.sg (formerly known as Central Singapore Joint Social Service Centre) was held in conjunction with the Community Development Councils' (CDC) 10th Anniversary Racial Harmony Celebrations.

Singapore Racial and Religious Harmony Marathon Relay

OnePeople.sg and the Sikh Welfare Council joined hands for the first time to organise an islandwide overnight marathon relay to promote Racial and Religious Harmony.

Free Kicks- Kicks Off!
Free Kicks officially kicked off on 6 April 2008 at the Jalan Besar Stadium with an MOU signing ceremony. OnePeople.sg signed the MOU with Central Singapore CDC and Coerver Coaching Academy . This soccer training programme for children aims to instill racial harmony values by forging friendships among different ethnic groups through sports. “Christians and Peace”- Inter- Faith Seminar
Learn more about the different religions and gain a deeper understanding about them through the bi-monthly seminars organised by the Inter-Religious Organisation, Singapore (IRO) in partnership with OnePeople.sg. In this seminar on Christianity held at OnePeople.sg, speakers Father Bruno St. Girons and Ms See Guat Kwee, shared their personal perspectives on the subject of Christians and Peace. Total Defence Exhibition 2008

Thousands of students and members of the public were fascinated by the displays and demonstrations at the Total Defence Exhibition 2008. Participants learnt much about how Social Defence can strengthen social cohesion in Singapore . CampTeen: Youth Racial Harmony Ambassadors Programme 2007

Youth leaders from various secondary schools and youth organisations had an enriching 4D3N residential camp at Outward Bound Singapore from 10-13 November 2007. A highlight of the camp is the youth's conceptualisation and presentation of ideas for the one-day event, 'CampTeen Carnival' which was held on 30 December 2007.

Dialogue with Asian Youth Ship for South East Asian Youth

OnePeople.sg hosted the institutional visit based on the theme, “Cross Cultural Understanding” on 9 November 2007 , for 50 of the ASEAN youth participants of SSEAYP 2007.
